The Creative Person

The creative person:

does not refuse to face his/her own emotions, anxieties, and fantasies

is better able to face, without fear and anxiety, impulses and imagery arising from more primitive and unconscious layers of his/her personality

is peculiarly gifted in seeing the gap between what is and what could be (which means, of course, that he/she has achieved a certain measure of detatchment from what actually is)

has a capacity to tolerate internal conflict, a willingness to suspend judgment

is not uncomfortable in the presence of unanswered questions or unresolved differences

does not find it difficult to give expression to opposite sides of his/her nature at the same time

has not been trapped by the rigidities that immobilize less creative people
